How LingoCue uses cookies and local browser storage

1. About This Policy

This Cookie Policy explains how LingoCue uses cookies and similar browser storage on lingocue.win. It should be read with our Privacy Policy.

2. Cookies We Use

The current LingoCue staging service uses strictly necessary cookies for:

  • maintaining your authenticated session;
  • protecting email/password and Google OAuth sign-in flows;
  • remembering temporary security state during authentication; and
  • preventing unauthorized or forged account requests.

These cookies are required for account and security features to work. LingoCue does not use them to build advertising profiles.

When you choose a website language, LingoCue stores the first-party preference cookie lingocue-locale for one year to remember that choice. This cookie is used only to display the website in your chosen language, not for advertising or tracking.

Cloudflare may also place or read operational security cookies when needed to protect and deliver the service. If you choose Google Sign-In, Google may use cookies on Google's own domains as part of the authentication flow. Those cookies are controlled by Cloudflare or Google under their respective terms.

3. Local Browser Storage

LingoCue may store your light, dark, or system theme preference in local browser storage. This preference does not identify your Google Account and is not used for advertising.

If you select a file on the homepage and then choose Google Sign-In, we may use tab-scoped session storage and IndexedDB to restore that selection after the redirect. The file stays in your browser until you explicitly start an upload. The temporary copy is removed on restoration or dismissal; it can be restored for ten minutes, and expired copies are cleared on the next visit that opens this storage. This storage is used only to continue your requested translation, not for tracking. If it is unavailable, select the file again after signing in. You can remove local copies by clearing this site's data.

4. Analytics and Advertising

The current staging build does not enable third-party analytics scripts, advertising cookies, social-media tracking cookies, or behavioral targeting. If LingoCue enables optional analytics in the future, this policy and any required consent controls will be updated before activation.

5. Managing Cookies

You can remove or block cookies in your browser settings. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may prevent registration, sign-in, account settings, and other authenticated features from working correctly.

6. Changes and Contact

We will update this policy when our cookie practices change. The date at the top shows the latest revision.
